PDNet Free L1 Training – Raising Awareness of Physical Disability

PDSS is the Physical Difficulties Support Service in Birmingham. We would like to let you know about PDNet which is a free to join, national network that provides professionals in education with support in promoting positive outcomes for children and young people with a physical disability.

We have a strong commitment to developing and sharing effective educational practice and pedagogy for learners with physical disability.

PDNet‘s vision is for children and young people with physical disability to achieve as much as other learners at every phase of education, from Early Years Foundation Stage through to Post-16 studies.

We want these children and young people to:

  • Be fully included in their school/learning community
  • Actively take part in high quality learning activities with their peers
  • Thrive and enjoy learning
  • Develop knowledge and skills so they can go on to lead fulfilled lives as adults
  • Be empowered, confident and able to function as independently as possible.

L1 Training: Raising Awareness of Physical Disability.

Who is the training for?

This free online training module is designed for anyone working within an educational setting who needs to develop their awareness and understanding of physical disability and the impact it can have on learning.

What does the training involve?

The Level 1 module is approximately one hour in length and uses custom graphics and scenario-based learning to help users to understand the barriers or challenges that can be faced by children and young people with a physical disability and the steps that can be taken to overcome these.

How do I get started?

Once registered with PDNet, you can work through the training at your own pace and revisit as many times as you need. A downloadable digital certificate is awarded on completion of each module.
