Top Tips for Parental Engagement

Welcome to the Pupil and School Support course ‘Top Tips for Parental Engagement’.

It is widely accepted that children tend to do better at school when parents are engaged in their child’s learning and we know that parents are important partners in the learning process, particularly true for pupils with SEND.

This short course gives some tips on what schools can do to help increase parental engagement. The course is aimed at SENCOs and school leaders.The course will usually take 20 minutes to complete online. There is an additional activity that SENCOs can use to audit and reflect on current practice.

During this course, you will learn about:

✔ what we should be doing under the SEN Code of Practice

✔ strategies to support successful parental engagement

✔ a range of resources that are available to support further including how to gain meaningful parent views
